Ursula K Le Guin

in fantasy •  7 years ago

I consider Ursula K Le Guin one of the most influential authors in my life, both as a reader and a writer. I found her Earthsea trilogy shortly after burning my way through The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and while Tolkien's books awoke the dormant reader in me, it was Le Guin's storytelling that I wanted to emulate. Long before fan fiction was a fad, I wrote a companion piece to The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, one of her many amazing short stories.

At some point in the near (hopefully) future, there will be a documentary about her creative life. It was a Kickstarter project that I had supported a while back. Keep your eye out for it.
