Hello friends of the farm today I want to share a very easy, fast and great way to germinate seeds, a method that we have been using for a long time. Seed germination time is reduced by 70%, doubling the success rate and getting as many germinated seeds as possible and thus avoid wasting money and time.
When we take seeds from our own plants or vegetables, such as tomatoes, or eggplants, we often do not know if we have done the process well, or if they are really going to germinate in the coming season, or sometimes we are even a little impatient and they have given us some seeds and we want them to germinate as soon as possible. This process is variable in terms of days, but we will probably reduce the germination time by 30% on a seed that we would have put in a nursery or in a pot. There are even seeds that need temperatures higher than room temperature to germinate and this is a good way to get that seed to germinate.
This method is called pre-sprout, or pre-sprout in the book where I read it. All you need is a plastic or glass container with a lid. The seeds do not need light to take root. It must be borne in mind that germination needs ideal temperature, darkness or humidity conditions.
Put a piece of kitchen paper in the bottom of the container, add water until the paper is completely wet, but there are no puddles of water.
Sprinkle the seeds in groups on wet paper, close the lid. Check the next day if the seeds are very fresh, some will germinate in just 1 day. The fastest with the family of cabbage - broccoli, kale, cauliflower, etc .; The slowest ones are pepper, eggplant, fennel, celery, which can take more than 5 days. The rest, like tomato, beet, chard, pumpkin, onion, will take around 3 days.
As soon as you see the roots that come out, plant them immediately. If you let the roots grow too much, it will be difficult then to separate them from the kitchen paper.
It may seem difficult to pick up a small seed, but it is actually quite easy. You can use a toothpick, or simply your fingers.
Plant them at shallow depths and carefully water them every day. It will take a couple of days for us to see the first small green leaves come out. Now is the time to put them in the sun so they grow strong and healthy.
This method has a large percentage of success, even when we have fresh seeds bought in a good seed company, the germination rate is almost 100%. It is an ideal method to see if your oldest seeds (2 years or so) are still alive. You can grow healthy plants from seeds of cabbage or tomato with more than 5 years, you can try any type of seed to see how it is.
And remember, you have to have pots and soil prepared, because the seeds could germinate in just one day. This is basically getting the most favorable environment for a seed to germinate, which is nothing more than a good environment of humidity, heat and darkness, three essential things for this to occur. Nature as always surprises us and the thought that the seed does not germinate unless its environment is propitious is almost like a miracle.

I have read about the health benefits of eating sprouts, I have made them with alfalfa, Chinese beans and even lentils, at the beginning they are not so appetizing but then you get used to them when you add olive oil.
Good publication
