Types Of Soil

in farms •  7 years ago

A very important and sacrosanct topic you have chosen, truly before you venture into any form of land cultivation you have to understand the type of soil in your chosen site to b used as your farmland with respect to the type of crop you wish to plant. All crops do not grow well in a particular type of soil, different crops grow well in different soil type. A soil that is favorable to carrot might not be favorable to yam or cassava, some crops are better grown in a sandy soil while some in a loamy or humus soil.

The type of crop you also want to plant is a factor in choosing a farm land with a particular soil property which could be; porosity, permeability, grain sizes, texture, percolation etc. Every type of soil can grow a particular or specific type of plant better.
