Some reporters are like lawyers. For much of the media, reporting the news is a business. Some people might enjoy there job, but at the end of the day its a business.
Some lawyers might enjoy helping people, a store might enjoy helping there community... a person can even understand what I am saying by learning the scientific fact that vacuums will be filled.
Like in the picture, liquid rushes into places that are not filled by air.
The problem with socialism (which unfortunatly the U.S. takes part in) is that people will only do jobs that makes the most money. The communist media tends to report on stories that people are intrested in. A lot of people want to hear about a train that derailed and decapitated 6 people. And in some cases that might be news, but unless its a pattern then only certain people need to know the information.
Someone that lives 1000 miles away does not need to hear a 6 minute expos'e covering the event (maby a 30 second blurb) but stop filling your broadcasts with fear porn!
