Those sneaky little ones

As this is a featheredfriends post, I'm talking about passerines. Those little ones, that are normally around, even in an urban setting, and are seldom missed. But even if we are on the lookout, funny how sometimes we see some rarities! I don't know if its related with the low afluence of people on the streets or the lower pollution nowadays, but as I left home to work two days ago, a treecreeper was climbing a tree in front of my building... and I live in an urban setting! Treecreepers are tiny birds, and I don't see them very often; and never saw one here! Remembered me when I saw this one:

This is a common redstart, Phoenicurus phoenicurus. And why did the little treecreeper reminded me of him? Well, because this photo was taken near my grandparents village, where I started my birwatching sessions around 20 years ago. And I did countless of them in that area... and the first (and only!) time I saw this species, was probably around 10 years later!

On the oposite side of the scale, the european stonechat Saxicola rubecula, appears almost every time I go for a walk with my binoculars in that region.

This one is the male, with that black head and the white half collar on the neck. They normally perch in a high position, so they're easy to see.

And there's this one passerine, that is all over the place. At the countryside, or in an urban park, chances that you'll see it are high. And even if you don't see it, you will probably hear it chirp!

How cute are the european goldfinches, Carduelis carduelis, with those black, white and read heads?
