World number two Roger Federer has withdrawn from the Rogers Cup in order to make the index a little easier.
Federer went on to win the Rogers Cup twice twice last year. But confirmed in the August edition of this year they are not playing anymore.
Wimbledon's quarterfinalist, 36-year-old Federer said in a statement that he decided to continue his game for the next few days.
Federer said, 'I spent my time in Montréal last year. Playing in front of Canadian fans is always enjoyable. But unfortunately we can not play anymore. I apologize for withdrawing my name from Toronto. '
Federer played just seven of the events so far in 2018. The Swiss star wants to end the 10-year wait for the sixth US Open in September.
