Production line composition
Heating furnace
Function: Heat the billet to the appropriate rolling temperature. Generally speaking, the heating temperature of different steel varieties is different. For example, the heating temperature of carbon structural steel is usually around 1150-1250°C.
Type: Common ones include walking beam heating furnace, pusher heating furnace, etc.
Rolling mill
A. Rough rolling mill: Mainly used for preliminary rolling of heated large-size billets to reduce the thickness and width of the billets to make them close to the size specifications of the finished product. Rough rolling can usually reduce the size of the billet by about 50%-70%.
B. Intermediate rolling mill: Further refine the size of the steel and improve the dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
C. Finishing mill: Make the steel reach the final dimensional accuracy, surface quality and mechanical performance requirements. The rolling speed of the finishing mill is relatively fast. For example, the rolling speed of the high-speed wire finishing mill can be as high as tens of meters per second.
Transmission system
A. Function: Provide power for the rolling mill to ensure the normal operation of the rolling mill.
B. Composition: Usually includes motors, reducers, transmission shafts and other components. The power of the motor depends on the specifications and production requirements of the rolling mill. The motor power of a large rolling mill may reach thousands of kilowatts or even higher.
Control system
A. Function: Automatically control the entire rolling production line, including temperature control, speed control, and reduction control.
B. Features: The use of advanced computer control systems and automatic control software can achieve high-precision production process control, improve production efficiency and product quality.
Cooling system
A. Purpose: Cool the rolled steel to obtain the required metallographic structure and mechanical properties.
B. Method: Common cooling methods include natural cooling, air cooling, water cooling, etc. For example, for some high-strength steels, a special quenching-tempering heat treatment process may be required to achieve rapid cooling through water cooling.
Shearing equipment
A. Purpose: Shear the rolled steel to the specified length.
B. Type: Including flying shears, cut-to-length shears, etc. Flying shears can cut steel during its movement to ensure the continuity of production.
Production process
Billet preparation:
Select suitable ferrous metal billets, such as steel billets, whose size and quality must meet the requirements of the production line.
Heating: Send the billet into the heating furnace and heat it to the appropriate temperature to make the metal have good plasticity and facilitate rolling.
Rolling: After multiple rolling passes such as rough rolling, intermediate rolling and finishing rolling, the billet is gradually rolled into the required shape and size.
Cooling: According to the type and performance requirements of the steel, select a suitable cooling method to cool the rolled steel.
Shearing: Cut the cooled steel according to the predetermined length to obtain the finished steel.
Inspection and packaging: Perform quality inspection on the finished steel, including inspection of size, surface quality, mechanical properties, etc. Qualified products are packaged and put into storage.
