#FFF HOT SOUP ON A SNOWY DAY

in fff •  6 years ago

Stepping into my slippers and slipping into my cozy robe, I make my way to the kitchen for the always ready fresh coffee my better half makes every morning. He generally rises well before I do, so one would figure, that's why he makes the coffee. BUT truth be told, I MAKE LOUSY COFFEE. I can cook or bake just about anything but my coffee SUCKS. So, if he's away, I drink green tea, safer that way.

As I breathe in that beautiful aroma,(does anyone else do that? sniff your coffee)I take that first, wonderful sip, I raise my blind above my kitchen sink and almost choke. It's a blizzard out there. Oh man, another snow storm? I don't mind the snow, until it's like your 100th snow storm of the winter. Well maybe not 100th, just feels that way.

Ok, can't fight mother nature. So what to do? Let's check our snow storm survival list. Open frig, let's see...ok fresh spinach, mushrooms shrimp, salad stuff, fresh bread to make a little of this, a little of that and of course...how much wine is left in our stash? ALL good. So let's get started in honor of @FFF

Nothing better on a snowy day then a Bowl of Hot Soup. Made fresh with the best stuff on hand is always fun to do, let's you get creative in the kitchen ( I never use a recipe ) Here's what I got.

I start with making the bread while still in my cozy robe.

While the bread was baking, and making my home SMELL SO GOOD. I hop in the shower, get dressed etc. thinking , ok what's next? Back in the kitchen I get started.

Oh I forgot my secret ingredient for the shrimp...a couple of healthy dashes of this stuff

IMG_1018.JPG

After shrimp and mushrooms are sautéed to perfection...into the pot they go along with all the other GOOD STUFF.

Did you notice the white beans, oh so good, adds to the hardiness of the soup. After the spinach has cooked down in the chicken broth I added some more spice and evaporated milk, along with 1/2 cup of half and half with couple of spoonful of corn starch to thicken the soup. A salad seemed an appropriate pairing, so I went for it.

Luncheon is served...IMG_1014.JPG

By the way, it snowed for two days, needless to say, that was Not the only food creation that happened that day...BUT you'll have to wait until next time...My wonderful FOODIE FRIENDS...Be well ! @fff

Ahhh yeah! Check out @farm-mom going for a first round k-o! Great job, chef! You’re a natural food fighter.

thanks a lot, love to cook and take pictures

That all sounds pretty good right about now. I think its 60* here in Florida and thats Freezing to us, brrrrr. Yum yum

leaving snow covered mountain in Upstate NY TOMMORROW Heading south to the Florida keys for a month or so. can't wait...60 you say? heat wave for us

Thats Awesome! Va-ca-tionnnn :D. Youll be passing right by my house. My family goes to the keys at least a couple times a year for lobster season. I haven't been in ages. Sounds like loads of fun :].

You keep cooking and I will keep shoveling.
If you ever left me I would be snow bound until spring.
It was great.

XO

That bread though… it looks like it could smell my house up through my phone screen. Yum! I don’t like using recipes either. It makes it more difficult to share the recipes here on Steemit but that way I use everything I have in my fridge rather than having to throw things out because I forgot about them. Franks red hot used to be my go to in college. I swear, I put that stuff on everything. Haha… anything spicy and I’m all about it. Great post @farm-mom!

Thank you my friend. Leaving tomorrow for Florida Keys. Usually when we are on vacation, I DON'T COOK. So we'll see, good chance I may go off grid for a little while...Enjoy

Oh you guys have fun. Stay off grid, that’s where life it lived. Pura Vida @farm-Mom.

That looks delicious! Maybe you could adopt me....

Congratulations @farm-mom!
