Here is my entry for Day One of @flamingirl’s We Love Animals photo contest.
These beautiful squirrel monkeys are almost daily visitors to the trees outside my house in the jungle of Costa Rica. They hang out in big groups and come by looking for food in the fruit trees. On this occasion they stopped to eat ice-cream beans. They are delicious fruits with big black seeds and a white outer fleshy part that tastes just like vanilla ice-cream. A favourite fruit of mine too. This was shot with my Canon Powershot SX60 HS.

Wanna know an insider pet photography tip? The key to make doggies look like they're smiling - is to make them tired!

Plus if I didn't make Gizmo look like he's smiling - he'd look like a very grumpy dog. But he's literally one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet. Once a stranger offers their attention - he starts going nuts!

In any doggie daycare he's been in - they always use him as an ambassador when introducing new dogs because he has a very friendly temperament.

Part of the rules for @flamingirl's contest is to prove you took the photo. So I figured why not do a #dtube video?

When tigers are still few weeks old it is possible to play with them like with cats. And so in the local ZOO in Klaipeda when happens tigers are just born, they allows guests to play with them (for additional payment of course).
So we had a chance to make small photoshoot at such occasion. Indeed they are just like cats, so much funny

Be a Flamingo in a flock of pigeons
The name Flamingo was derived from flamengo - which means flame colored
These are normally cold loving birds and they conserve more body heat . Does anyone know why they love standing in one leg ??

Their are many hypotheses for their standing in one leg theory. Among one such is related to conserving the body heat. they fold the leg beneath their body to conserve the body heat. Strange and also does not make any sense.

The color of the body is mainly due to the carotene (like in carrots). A health and well fed Flamingo is more vibrantly colored. And thus making a more desirable mate 😍

Mandrill is with scientific name "Mandrillus sphinx" is primate of Old world Monkeys roots. The Mandrills are known for living in groups. The Mandrill has a great omnivorous diet consisting of wild forest fruits and the insects.

Mandrills are preyed on mainly by leopards. Crowned eagles are known to attack both adult and young mandrills. Pythons are also counted as predators. Since they live in group they are spotted easily and blind attacks are always fruitful to the predators.

For today's photo, it is a little meerkat that i shoot a few years ago at the Werribee zoo in Australia. I could spend hours watching these little guys playing they just are too cute. For this photo, the meerkat looked at me straight in the objective and i really like how you can see his reflexion in the window of his cage. And his little nose is just so cute.

Pour la photo d'aujourd'hui, c'est une petite mangouste que j'ai pris en photo il y a quelques années au zoo Werribee en Australie. Je pourrais passer des heures à observer ces petits animaux jouer. Ils sont juste trop mignons. Pour cette photo, la mangouste m'a regardé tout droit dans l'objectif et j'aime vraiment voir son reflet dans la fenêtre de sa cage. Et son petit nez est juste si mignon.
