The sand stuck between her paws. She didn't like it but as the only survivor of the shipwreck she was here on her own. She scouted for breakfast and there it was - high in the coconut tree, a bird's nest full of bright coloured parrots. She leapt and bounded up the trunk so as to keep her momentum.
As she reached the edge she stared into the nest. Eggs and hatchlings. Yum. She gulped them down. Then she jumped down, somersaulting into a roll and raced along the annoyingly sandy beach. She mieowed her annoyance out and licked herself, cleaning off her salty coat.
Time to explore. She ran into the grasslands and discovered that island was small. There was little to eat, little to do and no bad kittens to mount her. She laid on her back and soaked up the sun. It was too hot, however, and she returned under the shade.
She thought she saw a mouse. She chased around in circles, pawing at the shape. But there was nothing she really saw. It was merely a disappearing mirage. She mieowed.
She had nowhere to go and she was more annoyed than ever.
