A slight breeze crept across the forest floor, tumbling dry leaves as it went. She looked at the little spider, and cast a shield spell that she had learned around him. The little spider crouched down and watched. The small breeze grew stronger. The tree tops swayed and twisted above them. Beatrix’s arms glowed a bright ember color. The crojorans pulled their claws off of her, roaring from the burning pain. A fierce emotion burned inside of her. She was so caught up in her rage, that she didn’t see a shadowy figure peering out from behind a large tree. The dark, shadowy figure glared at Beatrix; then vanished.
She stood up, looked into the sky above, and let out a terrifying scream that echoed through the woods. A flash of light filled the woods as sparks swirled around her. Beatrix rose up off the ground, and began to hover. She raised her arms up to the sky. The clouds swirled and tumbled above. Thunder began to ring throughout the forest. She looked out at the corjorans, who had started to run away from her. They paused for a moment, and looked back at her. She stared at them; anger filled her heart. With a fiery glare, she aimed her hands at the ground. Bolts of colorful lightning blasted the ground where the corjorans stood, emitting a blinding light. Dust and debris raced across the land around them. Beatrix grew faint. Destructive sounds of cracking and snapping filled the night air. Sparks, dust, and smoke leapt up off the ground all around her. The world began to blur and fade around her, as the feeling took over. She slowly lost consciousness, and the world went black.
Beatrix opened her eyes to a bright, sunny day. She looked straight up at the open sky. Vibrant pink and green birds flew overhead. She began to sit up. Dust and shattered branches fell from her as she rose. Beatrix looked all around her in horror. The once large, towering trees were now lying on the ground all around her. She was sitting in a valley littered with tree branches and shredded plants. She looked around her and saw the spider hovering off the ground in a glittering bubble. Beatrix muttered “safo gaurutto.” The shield bubble slowly drifted down to the ground and vanished from around the spider.
Beatrix started walking over to the spider; looking at him in fear of judgment. What had she just done? The spider muttered a short phrase, a light flashed, and there stood Arthur once again. Green sparks fell from him onto the ground as he walked towards her. Tears began to run down Beatrix’s face. She began to run towards him. Arthur sprinted towards her, and they met in the center of the debris covered valley, that once used to be full of large trees. They met with a warm embrace. The moment Arthur hugged her, the world melted away. She felt safe again. Emotion took a hold of her, and she gave Arthur a kiss on the cheek. Beatrix abruptly stood back, and looked away shyly. Arthur’s red eyes sparkled as he smiled at her. For a moment, they both had forgotten about the events that took place. But the world quickly caught up with them again, and worry filled their thoughts.
“I-I didn’t mean to…” stuttered Beatrix.
“I know” said Arthur. “We need to continue your training.”
“I couldn’t help myself” said Beatrix. “A feeling took over, and I lost control.”
Arthur looked at the destruction around them. He turned back and looked at Beatrix, who stood there, ashamed by what she had just done. “That is the danger of having great power” he said. “The more power you have, the harder it is to control it.”
Beatrix looked out at the large clearing in the forest. The power she possessed frightened her. Little did she know, this was only just the beginning.
