Memories of a lifetime- Chapter 11

                            

Lorraine was stunned by the amount of work that had been done at the chateau.  It was wonderful and the house was colossal and beautiful inside. She felt like a princess when they walked up the stairs and the view from the front door was breathtaking. The house was a remarkable piece of architecture and everything looked perfect just the way it was. 

Downstairs were very old furniture that fit the rooms perfectly and she could imagine herself spending hours in the small library. There was a room on the right side of the foyer and Alex ushered her through the large double doors to reveal a large and spacious room. It looked very elegant, and there was a long oak table in the center of the room. She was absolutely fascinated by the beautiful paintings and Alex pointed out that he picked the art himself. 

She was quite impressed with him, and as they walked from room to room she just fell more and more in love with this house. 

They walked upstairs and when he showed her the bedrooms she was even more impressed. The floral designs of the bedding fit in perfectly with the decor and all six rooms had an adjoining modern bathroom.  It looked neat and every room had a different unique design. 

"You can change this into a bed and breakfast...people would love coming here..."

"That was the idea, but now that it is finished I want this place to myself for a bit. I was hoping that Caroline would be able to start something here, which might make her want to stay longer."

"I'm sure that she will...this is beautiful Alex...I have no words to describe this actually."

Alex smiled broadly and he was glad that she was impressed. He had reached his goal. 

"Oh wait, I haven't shown you the master bedroom yet.." he said halfway down the stairs, and took her hand to turn around. 

He opened the door, and as she stepped inside it took her breath away. The room was much more modern than the other rooms, but there was a side chair next to the window and the view of the river was breathtaking. It was the best room in the house. 

"I love this Alex. The house is beautiful, and I would like to spend a few nights here while I'm in Paris if you don't mind. I'll pay you of course."

She didn't want him to think that she was taking advantage of him, but she might get some writing done here in the peace and tranquility. 

"Don't be silly woman. Of course you can move in right away. I have a truck coming with my personal things tomorrow, so if you don't mind sharing the house with me, you are welcome to stay as long as you want."

She clapped her hands quickly and jumped up and down like a teenager. 

"I would love that!"

Alex felt excited about the prospect of spending more time with her. She was quite a woman, and every second he spent with her, he felt more and more attracted to her. He had to stop himself from taking her into his arms, and showed her the way to the door. He took a deep breath before leading her downstairs back to the car. He took the picnic basket out and she lead the way down the pebbled path. 

It was even more breathtaking than the first time, and Alex spread the blanket out.  This time Lorraine packed out the basket and served him his breakfast.  He even brought champagne, which he opened and poured them each a glass. 

"Oh, you don't know what champagne does to me" she said and laughed. "I might not be able to control myself if I drink too much."

They ate and laughed and had a wonderful time, and this time they both realized that there was nothing rushing them into anything. They both had the idea of taking things slow, but when he poured her a second glass of champagne, she couldn't control herself any longer. She leaned over and kissed him with more passion than she kissed anyone else in her life. She wanted him to know that she was interested. 

The feeling was overwhelming, and after that kiss they both knew that there was no turning back.  They did not speak a word as they walked back to the car, but Lorraine had a different idea. She showed him to keep quiet while they walked up the stairs, and when he unlocked the door, she took his hand and lead him back upstairs to the main bedroom. 

At the door, he could feel the physical attraction and he kissed her again. He didn't know if he was doing the right thing, but very willingly she nodded and he picked her up and put her down on the bed. The passion was overwhelming, and it has been so long for Lorraine that it felt like her first time again and afterwards she felt like a young woman. 

They stayed in bed the whole afternoon and later when Alex started to feel hungry, they had no other choice but to drive back to Paris.They would have preferred to stay at the chateau but there was no food in the house. 

He drove her back to the hotel, and was about to kiss her goodbye when she asked him to stay the night. He agreed, and the mere thought of spending the night with her brought back an overwhelming feeling and he followed her when she ran upstairs to the service elevator.  

He thought that it was the best idea she had had up to now, and smiled when he followed her up the back stairs to the service elevator. She ordered more champagne and enough food for an army. He laughed when he saw them deliver two trays of food and she started loading her plate immediately. She was as hungry as a beast and gobbled up her food.  She felt totally at ease with Alex and she wanted him to get to know her exactly like she was without any pretending. 

After dinner they sat talking for a while, before he kissed her again and they landed back in bed. They were both exhausted when they fell asleep in each others arms just before midnight.  

Neither of them had any idea about their future together but neither of them cared at this stage. They just knew that they didn't want to be apart and they wanted to spend as much time together as possible....
