The god of the sea , rivers and lake as well god of earthquekes,poseidon!

Dear steemians, well if I previously posted about the goddess demeter of agriculture, then this time I will post about the mighty god, the ruler of the sea, poseidon! Okay happy reading!

Poseidon is the ruler of the sea, rivers and lakes as well as gods of earthquakes and horses. He is the son of Titan Kronos and Rea. In Roman mythology, he is known as Neptune.

Poseidon has a trident weapon capable of causing floods and earthquakes. It is said that the trident was made by the Kiklops (Cyclops) during the Titanomakhia. The vehicle he used was pulled by a half-horse, half-fish called hippokampos.

Poseidon acquires oceans as his domain. If he is not in Olympus, Poseidon usually lives with his queen and wife Amfitrit in his water palace in Aigeia. Poseidon is the father of the sea god Triton, and two daughters - Rhodes and Benthesikime.

Like many other sea gods, Poseidon has the ability to change form, but unlike some sea gods, Poseidon does not have the power of fortune-telling. Poseidon had fallen in love and tried to rape his own sister, Demeter. Demeter transforms into a mare to escape. Poseidon also turned into a stallion and in that form he raped Demeter. From that relationship was born an immortal horse named Areion, and a daughter called Despoina (the horse goddess). Poseidon is also called a horse god with the nickname of Hippios (or Konsos).

Poseidon's favorite animal is a horse and a bull, as well as a dolphin, while his favorite tree is a pine tree. His shrines were in Korinthos, Troezen and Athens, where he once competed with other gods.

In Theogonia by Hesiod, Poseidon is called the "Dark-Haired".
