Capsule Film Review: Iron Man 3 (2013)

in film •  7 years ago

Third film in Iron Man saga begins with the superhero tycoon Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) trying to convince himself and the public that his world-saving career is over and that he would instead settle down with his girlfriend Piper Potts (played by Gwyneth Paltrow). However, when the bombing campaign by mysterious Mandarin (played by Ben Kingsley) begins targetting his businesses and co-workers, he is forced to again wear his famous suit and battle evildoers. Another film of Marvel Cinematic Universe is directed and co-written by Shane Black, one of the most respected 1980s and 1990s action film screenwriters. Otherwise forgettable script is enhanced by some deviations from comic book source and plenty of humour, mostly in form of Stark's oneliners. The final showdown, however, shows limits of Black as director, although the general impression Iron 3 remains positive.
