REVIEW

Ironically, for a movie whose title means "life", Life offers even more deaths. Yes, there is a bad smell of death in the space thriller/horror directed by Daniel Espinosa (Child 44) this. The premise written by the duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick does not offer anything new in this subgenre, a horrible story coming from outer space where a small group of spies and scientists terrorized by a mysterious alien attack feels very familiar, like a tear from a masterpiece Ridley Scott, the legendary Alien with all the threats of his narrow space coupled with the feel of outer space ala Gravity. Just do not ever expect Life to match the power of Alien franchise, because to be honest, it's like a weak copy paste though it must be admitted he is very entertaining.

Espinosa actually started Life quite well. The introduction of every six-person character runs smoothly, there are doctors, David Jordan (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Miranda North (Rebecca Ferguson), one mechanic, Rory Adams (Ryan Reynolds), two International Space Station operators, Sho Kendo (Hiroyuki Sanada ) And Katerina Golovkinaas (Olga Dihovichnaya) provide a serious but relaxed relationship. There is a motive about the quest for life on a well-formed Mars planet as well as a tense "before the storm" moment then quickly makes the plot very generic.

The narrative becomes trapped into a narrow location, there is no chance to explore more in detail, there is no chance also for his little character to be able to develop and incised emotion and sympathy for the audience, there is even the presence of a row of plot hole is quite disturbing and twist in The stupid end though it is also hard not to acknowledge the expertise of Espinosa in concocting the level of tension with a very slick. Yes, Life manages to do well as a space horror. Fierce and clever monsters, combined with the limitations of space and time, plus special effects slick with a powerful scoring Jon Ekstrand which then became a successful deadly combination to be able to bang the heart of the audience very effectively.

Yes, of course, it is hard not to compare Life with Alien, how not, both have almost identical premises, both located in a narrow space where terror is a malignant alien, in this case, Xenomorph replaced by the figure of Calvin (Once they call the mysterious organism It) is no less terrible. Seeing how a monster like an octopus grows and begins to spread death into its own pleasure in Life. Unfortunately, Life lacks a strong central character like Sigourney Weaver with his Ellen Ripley character.

Indeed, on Life's paper have Gyllenhaal-Ferguson-Reynolds death trident unfortunately not followed by good development, the result we just see them busy running to and fro without ever given the reason why to be sympathetic but hard to dismiss the three obviously very efficacious as a selling material film. Practical Life does not have a strong character here who can really lead the movement of his narrative. Ferguson Miranda North's figure does look convincing as a doctor. She is beautiful and elegant in her Ontario uniform, but lacks a great impact, while Raynolds is lined up only as a supporting character whose portions are not much, but she is quite interesting as a laugh angler. Nothing to expect from Gyllenhaal's character here, without the strong backing up of the narrative he looks like a lonely, emotionless astronaut trapped in a generic nightmare.

saw this movie a few months back, I didn't like t either.

I liked it. They were idiots. Hey here's life it's attacking us, if I was captain I would say. Alright anti-contamination measure we need to immediately take this thing into the sun. No we are all going right now, I am not risking earth! I would love to see a sequel just to see the special effects. I don't want a lot of dialogue just a 1 hour sequel of Life part 2, earth takeover. I want to see that.

I think I had too high expectations for this movie, so it did dissapoint me a little, but it was entertaining tho, so I can only agree at you 6/10 rating

I liked Life. I really enjoyed the suspense of the movie and the ending. I would really love a sequel.

Nice review. The only thing this movie had going for it, is that people thought it was a Venom prequel, they should have done some re-shoots to make it happen. I didn't see this movie, but maybe one day I'll catch it for free on TV.
