Day Nine: Snowmen (2010)
Written & directed by Robert Kirbyson. Starring Bobby Coleman, Bobb'e J. Thompson, Christian Martyn, Josh Flitter, Ray Liotta, Demi Petersen, Beverley Mitchell, Doug E. Doug, and Christopher Lloyd.
Not exactly a Christmas story, more of a wintery tale. When Billy Kirkland got cancer his parents lied to him about the severity of his illness, as a result he doesn’t believe he is now better. After Billy and his friends discover a man frozen to death in a giant snowbank, he decides he needs to do something I’ll be remembered for. (honestly, it’s considerably less depressing than it sounds)
Eventually the trio settle on breaking the world Guinness World Record for the most snowmen build in a day. They rope in every kid they can find, alert the media, and arrange for the major to do the official count, but the sunny weather and a confrontation with the local bullies threaten to ruin everything.
Snowmen was released at the Tribeca Film Festival where it received the Audience Award for Best Feature.
