Is Wonder Woman DC's Iron Man?

Unofficial news broke that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will appear in Flashpoint movie. As exciting as it is, I would like to remind everyone that no one from DC has confirmed this as of now (August 5). All articles bring the same source, this article:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2017/08/04/wonder-woman-wows-with-wonderful-400-million-domestic-box-office/#394e021d3575

Now Forbes has a really good reputation, but as you may have noticed, it’s an article about box office number. This could be a publicity stunt to help Wonder Woman cross that $400 domestic $800 international box office lines.

Now I am going to put my cynical hat aside and treat this news as it’s an actual announcement. This means we will get a lot of Wonder Woman in the near future. We have Justice League coming up this year, Wonder Woman 2 and Justice League part 2 coming out in 2019 and now Flashpoint coming out in 2020. That’s a lot of Wonder Woman. Why does DC want so much Wonder Woman? As you can see from the article the announcement was attached to, the answer is clear: financial support.

I know that in the comics her story is part of the Flashpoint storyline, but now I feel that this announcement places her as DC’s Iron Man. No, not as a tech playboy billionaire, but as financial training wheels for other superhero films. Iron Man is everywhere, in Captain America, in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which angered some people, and now it looks like Wonder Woman will be everywhere as well. If Gotham City Sirens will ever be made, expect her to have a cameo there as well.

Iron Man 3 may not be a good movie, but it made a billion dollars, does that predict the future of Wonder Woman 2 or 3 solo movies at the box office? I think so. Technically, that honor should have gone to Man of Steel, the DCUE first movie (we shall never speak of the Green Lantern movie), but audiences just didn’t connect with Zack Snyder’s Superman. They did connect with Patty Jenkins’s Wonder Woman, who 10 weeks after release is still breaking records. Just as they did with Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man.

As Gal Gadot is not famous, DC will never have to pay her RDJ’s salaries. Also, since Gadot is nicer than Downey, we won’t have to suffer someone who is a megalomaniac off screen. Wonder Woman over exposure? Are you kidding me? We are just starting to enjoy seeing a DC female superhero on screen.

Wow! Love it! Especially this (well said): I feel that this announcement places her as DC’s Iron Man. No, not as a tech playboy billionaire, but as financial training wheels for other superhero films. Iron Man is everywhere, in Captain America, in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which angered some people, and now it looks like Wonder Woman will be everywhere as well.

Thank you!

"As Gal Gadot is not famous, DC will never have to pay her RDJ’s salaries. " - I wonder how many movies she is locked into? It seems these companies are smart, even though RDJ was a great start, before Iron Man role, he wasn't getting hit up so Marvel got him cheap and locked him in a certain amount of movies deal, which I think was just three so he is done with his deal.

DC and Marvel seems to be making a lot of stars from young talent they can get cheaply, like Gal. My bet is Warner Bros got her cheap and locked her into doing a certain amount of movies at one rate. I'm just so happy the DC universe didn't completely flop and have to be rebooted thanks to Wonder Woman, because the amount of bad Suicide Squad and BvS was still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Unrelated, Gal Gadot's real name is so awesome, she was born to be a hero.

I heard she's locked for both Justice League movies and Wonder Woman 2. That's why I am not sure if this is even real news, though I really want it to be. RDJ was famous before Iron Man, he was famous from the 80s, he was nominated for an Oscar in 1993. He was just seriously recovering when Marvel picked him up. Gal Gadot is just starting up, she has supporting roles behind her. I don't think they will ever get paid the same.

Flashpoint is a reboot, theoretically, it's how DC started the terrible 52. They could make it an elseworld story, but I am not sure that cinema audiences are ready for that. Let's wait for a synopsis, but even if it is a reboot, most of the actors will be staying.

Gal Gadot did such a great job as Wonder Woman and with all the press junkets. I love Marvel, but Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) so far does not impress me during interviews.

Suicide Squad was horrible, but BvS had unrealized potential in it.

Also thank you for such a great and elaborate response.
