Furiosa: Quest of Redemption. | The Perfect Female Hero.

Warning: If you have not yet seen Mad Max: Fury Road, what do you expect to see it? It's a great movie. This blog can contain SPOILERS.

What would happen if you were told that a movie starring Charlize Theron with Tom Hardy was called Furious: Quest of Redemption and will be set in the world of Mad Max. Maybe this one would not have as much success as it had “Fury Road” but for me that was the title that had to have that film. At no point do I mean that Max was not the important one in history, but the level of importance of Furious and performance of the role of Charlize was such that in the film she was the main character.

But what makes Furious the perfect heroine? Let's find out.

In the cinema there are different types of stereotypes for women, one of these stereotypes is that of heroin. In recent years there have been several roles of women heroines, but they were kept in a mold of a beautiful and weak woman who despite their apparent weakness managed to solve their problems, it is here where George Miller comes a Different heroine that is emerging gradually in the cinema and that in the past was present like Ellen Ripley (Alien The Eighth Passenger).

In Mad Max: Fury Road a character is a Natural Leader, with clear goals and objectives, these two seemingly simple aspects make Imperator Furiosa a unique heroine. Where it shows us that women can do what men do as well or better than them, she is an intelligent, determined woman with a clear and willing goal to do everything she needs to reach her. Despite having a physical handicap this does not prevent her from fighting her obstacles and defeating them.

As mentioned, there were films where the protagonist were women but despite wanting to give them a relevant role in cinema and to show a model to society, they were kept in the same stereotypes of previous times. That is why this character that breaks the mold that currently Hollywood seeks to give the woman, but still could not achieve it, if you look at other recent films with female characters was trying to convey the image of a strong woman but who needed someone to protect or help her.

Furious was born in a place known as Green Place a fertile land, but was kidnapped along with her mother about 20 years before the events occurred on Fury Road, her mother died 3 days after the abduction. She served Immortal Joe and won the Imperator Rank, as a matter of fact she was the only woman in the military ranks of Immortal Joe. Despite having a high rank and a position of importance in the military ranks, she decides to escape and release the "Five Wives" of the Immortal Joe and take them to the Green Place by taking advantage of one of their missions in the Use of "The War Rig" to transport water and in search of provisions to Gas Town and Bullet Farm. This is just the beginning of the film but it shows a strong character on his part to make such a delicate decision and that something bad would cost him his life.

I would like to emphasize two scenes of the film that allow us to know a little more to Furious:

1-. The Fight with Max.

Here we can observe how she despite her disadvantage since she did not have her mechanical arm is decided and fights Max to protect the "Five Wives", it is also noteworthy in this scene as the first of them to help in the fight Is Splendid, which is pregnant, this for me is a brushstroke in the picture, which shows us that despite his condition is not an incapable person. Although Furious she ends up being subdued by Max we can observe her determination.

2. The second scene is when they find the Vuvalini.

The Vuvalini indicate that this place that never forgot and that longed to see again, had become a poisoned swamp, we can see how the strong spirit of Furiosa breaks and we feel the deepest of its sadness and disappointment. In this image we are shown a real being that despite its strength is human and has feelings and in an almost silent cry lets us know all their disappointment and anger.

Finally, we can conclude that Furiosa is a born leader with a clear objective and who is not demoralized in the face of adversity, which despite being human and suffering setbacks can rise and move forward in pursuit of their goals. Personally, I would like to see more such films in the cinema, I do not mean that it is an exact copy, but that they are a reflection of the woman and not a false image of a strong woman, but that in the end depend on the Men to achieve their goals.
