Film Review: 'Midsommar' (2019): Killers in Meadows

Saw this in cinema and had high hope but I can't say I liked it or would recommend it. I also don't feel like watching it a second time. Didn't like the whole suicide plot nor the showing the gore ( in your face ) when it wasn't necessary.

I mainly liked the film visually and it wasn't all bad but it felt too much like a modern and somewhat tweaked version of the - imo - superior ( original ) The Wicker Man and it was so overhyped that I couldn't help being disappointed.

I agree that The Wicker Man (original version) was much better. But I didn't find the gore overdone. It was really only shown in a few scenes (suicide scene and Simon's body scene). Yes, the hype was ridiculous.

Perhaps I have become more sensitive these days.
