Fire in the Sky is meant to be a biopic and in a way it is seeing as how all the people involved have passed polygraphs multiple times. Maybe I was not supposed to tell you that but oh well, it makes the film more interesting because when i first saw it, i had no idea i was watching something about witness accounts.

For me this story has a funny background as I originally watched it in the late 90's because I found myself owning a laser disk player and if you don't know what that is you don't need to know. Fire in the Sky was one of the only movies I could find for my laser disk player and I am actually really happy that the pawn shop happened to have it that day because it is a good film.
The story is about a bunch of working class guys in Arizona (they were loggers, that's pretty hardcore) and how they encountered a Unidentified Flying Object on the way home one day.

The gutsiest member of the crew investigates closer and I guess gets a bit too close because he gets a photon or something shot at him and his crew flees the scene because they think he is dead. They and the police return to the scene later but there is no trace of the dude and he is presumed gone. He pops back up 5 days later - naked, dehydrated, and effed up.
What follows (in the film) is a massive exaggeration of what the person in question, Travis Walton, claims actually happened to him... Even though the film is definitely not trying to be truthful, they do a fantastic job of being terrifying.

Anyway, even though Hollywood took extreme liberties with the storyline to the point where most of what is in the film is complete fiction... the fact that Travis Walton claims he was abducted and his pals saw it happen and all of them have passed lie detector tests says one of two things.... it actually happened or polygraphs are full of shit.
The trailer is pretty terrible but what are you gonna do? It was 1993. If you haven't seen this movie you really should see it. I am not trying to get anyone to believe in UFO's or anything silly but the entertainment value of this films is incredible and it is something that will haunt you as well. I wouldn't try to find it on laser disk if I were you.
I have seen a lot of conflicting opinions about this story. I am really on the fence about whether I think it's true or not!
Some people who are from the town vehemently defend the story as true, while others say that he's totally making it up for money and fame. It seems so elaborate to make up, but who knows.
All I know is, there is a lot that we are not being told about what we do know. I just wish that the governments would come clean already. But hell, who knows. Maybe they have come clean and I just don't believe them.
My main argument against the government knowledge of ETs is that I think it would be hard to keep 3rd world countries quiet about it. What motive would most of the world have to keep it secret? What are the odds that aliens only visit advanced countries where there are strict rules on silence about aliens. Who knows...

I would guess that the "government aid," aka bribery goes away if any third world country steps out of line on any official narrative. Though even if they did reveal visitations, I wonder what major news agency is not controlled on these topics?

That's a good point. One interesting thing though is that it seems that Presidents don't seem to know the truth. For instance, back in the day I think it was Clinton who swore he would get to the bottom of it if elected. Then he was frustrated that he couldn't get any information. I could be wrong though. I remember hearing things over the years from US Presidents, and then nothing. Maybe they were shut down, or just really don't know.
