Todo preconceito é uma abstração da mente humana pra simplificar o mundo e assim tentar compreendê-lo melhor. Quando classificamos as pessoas pelas características que possuem, estamos automaticamente negando as suas individualidades e "empacotando-os" naquele grupo específico, onde passamos a enxergar simplificadamente todo mundo dentro daquele grupo como sendo todos iguais aos nossos olhos.
Isso acontece como um mecanismo de autodefesa. Se precisássemos em nossas relações interpessoais saber realmente quem é quem pra tratá-los individualmente de acordo com suas personalidades e idiossincrasias, não teríamos as mínimas condições de convivência, ou isso iria nos demandar um esforça cerebral enorme nas nossas interações humanas.
E a solução do nosso cérebro pra esse impasse foi simplesmente simplificar o mundo à nossa volta, passando a classificar as pessoas por algumas características chaves, e a partir daí generalizando e tratando todos com aquelas características "principais" da mesma forma, todos num bolo como se fossem todos iguais.
Então a conclusão que eu tiro disso tudo é que sim, todo preconceito é coletivista, uma ignorância e uma deficiência intelectual de quem a possui. Porém essa deficiência intelectual quase todos nós a possuímos no nosso trato com os outros e na nossa convivência do dia a dia, principalmente com estranhos e pessoas com quem não convivemos muito ao ponto de poder conhecê-los melhor. Ou seja, os preconceitos são um mal desnecessário, porém inevitáveis.

É impossível vivermos sem preconceito. Quem é muito ingênuo pode pensar que uma pessoa preconceituosa é má, porém, quem não possui preconceito algum contra nada é porque não possui defesas.
O problema nisso, é que essas questões tendem á ser generalizantes e o lado que é generalizado, pode sofrer muito estigma, fazendo com que tenha dificuldade de viver sua vida, pois caso vá em algum grupo que tenha um viés torto sobre ele, no mínimo, sentirá desconforto.
Porém, imagine duas situações. Na primeira, uma pessoa está andando na rua as 5 da manhã e vê um grupo de freiras andando em sua direção. Na outra, a pessoa também anda na rua as 5 da manhã e vê um grupo de caras mal encarados, com cara de bravos, andando rápido e vindo na direção dela. Em qual dos dois acontece medo, por exemplo, de assalto???
Ou seja, é impossível vivermos sem preconceito, pois ele é uma forma de defesa. Porém, não devemos maltratar alguém que esteja em um expectro diferente do nosso.
