Drum of Vainamoinen

One very interesting story that is told in the Kalevala is of the drum that is our world. The skin of the drum is stretched across our sky. Within that drum, lies the beat of the drum which comprises our existence. The harmony of that existence is the balance in which we exist. The rhythm is the tone in which we breath and live. Co-existing within the world around us.

It has long been told that the ancient Finns were among the most coveted members of any ships crew. Given their ability to sing to the winds to conjure a breeze from a calm day. And that they were always known to be able to locate a gust to carry their ship in the fastest and truest way possible. Just as they could call out to the water in much the same way.

It is said that in their respects, understanding the ways in which the world operates at the microscopic level, allows you a deeper understanding of a macrocosm of control in which you are inherently able to provide some type of manipulated control, or deeper level of cooperation. Whichever school of thought you ascribe to.

Whichever you choose, I still find ancient cultures vastly intriguing in my minds eye.
