This is my first post here. I am a writer by nature and by trade. However, I have not written at all about being state property. I began being state property as a child--where the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan declared that I was a "ward of the state." We This meant that until I emancipated myself, I could not do anything without the state's permission, but that people were also getting paid to "take care of" me. By "taking care of," this meant abuse. Heavy abuse--even when my family were getting paid to take care of me. The state was supposed to check on this and never did. As I have aged, I have come to see this as the first time that the state abused me. I now work for another state and find I am abused in that as well. For me, the state just equates with abuse. I haven't been able to leave because the state insures that I stay here through my job providing medical insurance and me having a chronic illness (ironically, from the abuse I suffered) called lupus or SLE. I am interested in Mexico because lupus patients have gotten stem cell treatments there, but I am also single and a petite person. I have been to Mexico and know that it can be dangerous, but I wonder if the stem cell treatments would give me back the quality of life that a normal, healthy, person has. Have any of you moved there for more innovative medical care? I would love to hear from you!
