Hello, My First Post: The Trails of Sign Up

Hello everyone,

I've finally made it onto steemit :D

I'm happy to finally be online. I am a web programmer with a passion for drawing. I have been drawing my entire life with dry patches here and there, I have also been coding since about the age of 12 but again with dry patches here and there.

I found out about steemit from a friend a week or so ago.

At first I wasn't sure whether I wanted to create an account. So I had a bit of a read online and it all sounded too good to be true. With my doubts in mind I thought if something sounds too good to be true it might be, but how will I know if I don't try.

So I tried signing up over the weekend using my facebook account and that caused me headaches, over an ancient email account I haven't used in way over 5 years. How silly I had been to continue using a facebook account registered to an email I no longer use, especially now that it is possible to sign up to website with it. But that wasn't a problem until steemit.

With this problem infront of me I jumped on my facebook to change the email account that it was registered to but no luck it wouldn't change.

The alternative sign up to facebook is reddit, but I had no reddit account. So I went and signed up. I make that sound easy but I support anonanimity online and went down an anonymous route only to find out that a reddit account must have an unknown amount of karma before being able to register with steemit. At least I have a reddit account, I should have had one for the past 10 years but nevermind.

I still couldn't sign up to steemit.

I began the recovery of my old email account.
Google: what is the mobile number ending in *********??
Me: well that number is as old as the email account and I have had a few numbers since then so yeah, another question please google.
Google: what year did you open the account?
Me: google are you serious, I'm having problems remebering everything to do with the account.(I took an educated guess based off of the facebook account and when I was leaving high school and moving into college).
I luckily had the answer somewhat right.
Google: what primary school did you go?
Me: I know this one I only went to One.
Google: could you briefly explain what has happened ect....
Me: sure X, Y and Z.
Google: it could take up to 5 working days.
Me: Screw this email account, I'd forgotten about it up until today.

I didn't leave it at the with google, I tried a few other ways to get back into my old gmail account including a phone call I hope didn't cost(much).

After that I realized the facebook account could cause this problem consistantly in the future being unable to update the email I was left with one solution.

New facebook with an email account I actively use and this problem shouldn't happen again.

That said the reason I ended up where I am was because I forgot passwords and made new accounts. Hopefully I don't come accross another reason to change.

I now have a reddit which I will be visiting. I have a new facebook which I can stick with. I also have an anonymous email account, just because.
