Had a taste of summer for dinner, late trout.

This past summer we went to a fishing hole that’s forty-five minutes away. It is a stocked lake, Fish and Game release the fish into it at six inches.

It was great fun for the kids, they all caught something.
We fish here at this fishing hole until it’s salmon season.

Me and my fishies, the biggest ones I have ever caught! Use to fishing for brook trout.

As soon as the snow is gone or almost gone and the ice is melted off the lake I will be heading back out there.
Last year we got snowed and hailed on

Here is the flour mix we used on our fish.

Pan fry mix

Flour
Pepper
Season salt
Granulated garlic

Coat fish in flour mix.
Fry in oil until fish is flaky.

Thanks for sharing. Always better fresh, but I think I shall pull a few out of the deep freeze and get that iron skillet ready to go...

I agree always better fresh, but don’t have an ice auger 😢

Fresh lake trout is sooooo good. I love them in the cast iron like you did there, but I think my favorite is to bring them home and put them in the smoker for 2-3 hours on really low!! Either way delicious!! =)

Oh yeah I was tossing around the idea of putting them in our smoker with alderwood.
We smoke and brine salmon, and can/jar it. Then use it like tuna in salmon sandwiches. Drool 🤤

That sounds spectacular!! I have never canned it but maybe I should think about that!

It is so worth the extra time and effort!
Make sure you use a brown sugar brine, smoke it, then can it. Other wise it’s a waste of canned salmon.

Great Post! Love the pictures and the recipe too! CARRY ON!
