Dallas caught a 44inch about 20ft from shore in 8ft of water, using a lead jig
FUNNY STORY
Dallas had been laying on two square floatation things (we use them to sit on in the boat), on the rotten ice like this all day, he was catching Pickerel and Jackfish most of the day. He even caught a Sucker! Anyway.. Jay and I were up by the prospector tent working and I heard Dallas Yelling. I looked at Jay and was 'oh sh!t! he fell in!' So we walked over a bit on the faster pace and there is Dallas on the rotton ice and his full-sized summer fishing rod was right arched, he was freaking out in excitement, smile ear to ear :)
So Jay and I just watched from shore.
As Dallas was dancing around for a few minutes trying to reel this monster in, he drops to his knees, reaches in the hole, grabs this monster jackfish by its gills, rips it out of the hole and before he was able to hold it all the way it up it started thrashing so hard that Dallas got a good beating! LOL! As this jackfish was giving him a good one he just couldn't hold it any more and dropped it back on the ice. Its was thrashing around on the ice right close to going back in the hole and Dallas wasn't letting that happen!

He jumped on the jackfish, got a better hold on it and held it up with the biggest smile ever!
