Pole fitness can seem intimidating for new students to learn for a lot of reasons. Students may feel like they aren't strong enough, aren't flexible enough, or aren't coordinated enough to learn pole fitness. My situation as a pole fitness instructor was unique because growing up , i did not have any professional dance lessons or gymnastics lessons ;( i always joked with my students that i taught pole FITNESS not pole DANCE! ), and i always felt clumsy and awkward. As an adult, i found a studio that i liked and began practicing yoga, integrating its principles into my daily life. Building strength and flexibility. I started taking hammock aerial fitness classes and getting serious about aerial arts. I joined a troupe called Billings Alternacirque and began learning trapeze and lyra , and performed with them. The photo above was my very FIRST straddle inversion on a pole ever, in a class at Limber Tree Studios ( Billings MT) The sheer joy on my face in that straddle inversion shows the instant love that i had for pole fitness. From this point, i continued to build strength and expand my repitoire, and eventually was teaching pole at Limber Tree myself, sharing the joy of flight with others.
If you feel inclined to try pole fitness, regardless of shape, size, age, gender, location, religion, any of those factors, i would encourage you to take the steps towards getting there. YOU CAN DO IT!! Do some yoga, take a jog, stretch and get a pull up bar. Build yourself a little bit at a time, day by day , and ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE !
MUCH LOVE AND HAPPY POLE DANCING <3
