I've finally dragged myself back into a gym after a very long break. I haven't been totally sedentary over the last few years, but most of my exercising has been running and the occasional circuit training.
I've been worried since the start of my paternity leave that I'm going to balloon out again. Last time I gained almost 30lbs and went back to work over 200lbs (I stopped weighing myself due to shame, but somewhere around 210-220lbs). It's so easy to just grab a little snack and eat 3 meals a day when I'm home all day with the kids. We're sure to make their regular meals and snacks.
There were periods and times in my life, when I was quite active in the gym and have always quite enjoyed it, but it just didn't seam like there was any time in my life to get back there. But recently we got a family membership at the YMCA, and it's been working out quite well. I've been going about twice a week in the mornings. They have free daycare (2hrs only) for the kids while I hit the weights, then when I'm done we can all go swimming or play some silly games in the gymnasium together. So they also like it. We can also sign them up for lessons and activities free with the membership as well. I've also snuck away in the evenings a couple times as well, once the kids are in bed.
Not sure I'll make the transformation like that guy...but....
You can have snacks with the kids just make them something healthy like hummus and veggies for dipping. No cookies, cake, ice cream and potato chips! Caught you with your hand in the candy!

Oh yeah, those first few sessions left me sore for quite a few days! Way longer than before, I fear the years are catching up with me.

And it's so easy for those easy grabbed 3 meals when at home to turn into and 4 or 5 snacks as well... Or just grazing all day.
I've noticed that over the last couple of months I've been more grazing and less meals, but now that I've noticed it, I'm making an effort to fix that again. Hopefully it gets me back to cooking more actual things too

Yeah man, time to make a change before it gets too far gone. I think cooking and pre-planning meals is really key as well to prevent some of the snacking and reaching for the wrong foods.

Absolutely - as I chow down on a couple of slices of pizza because it was cheap. Though I was buying the ingredients for my next #packetmeals post if that's helpful. Should be at least 4-6 serves come from that
