Spent the day under my house today stablizing the foundation.
Installing a pier block and post is not as hard as you would think.
First level the pier block by grading the dirt underneath it.
Measure and cut the post. I used a 4x4. Make the cut tight and use a seperate block of wood to pound the post into place to prevent damage.
Put at least four screws into the bottom and top as shown. Make sure to pre drill to prevent splitting the wood.
That would work fine for most jobs but I ended up adding a 2x4 between the two post seen below and a piece of steel for extra structural support.
Fixer uppers can be time consuming but very enjoyable if you like being physical.
