Quantity over Quality: What and How Often Do You Share on Steemit? What's Your Noise:Value Ratio?

Father, and witness, @lukestokes longforms the whole discussion about whether to post frequently or less often in this post. A post in which he shares what he shared on other social media platforms, because Steem wouldn't be Steem without metaness:

The consensus seemed to be versions of "You worked hard building a following and providing consistently valued content, so enjoy the rewards you deserve" to "It's all about balance. Post what you want, but go ahead and decline payout for casual stuff now and again."

Personally, I'm still posting a lot more on other social media sites. Part of that might be the ease of use of the mobile apps for Twitter and Facebook, but part of it might be that I always want to post quality content here because I have many more followers on Steemit and taking a piece of the rewards pool is a lot different than just getting some likes (though I'm sure advertisers are loving me as the product over there).

So yeah, that was my day today, and I wanted to share it with you to keep the conversation going about how this community feels regarding how we manage the rewards pool, especially for more established users like myself who have been here for over a year and half and have built a large following over that time.

Obviously, I myself went the path of maintaining an alt account for purposes of curation of thought-provoking, or generally awesome, content. When I introduced this alt some days ago I also reasoned it with the noise ratio:

Most of all I do not want to clutter the feeds of my followers with many curated posts, not without them being fully aware, upon following me, that It Might Get Loud.

Heck, I even sport the It Might Get Loud warning in the footer I occasionally use on my main account to cross-promote this account. Even though nobody so far has caught upon that reference but that's most likely because the 20 some followers I have are probably all follow bots or #DED. Also this account has a noise warning in the footer.

In case you missed it earlier, here's the link to Luke's post again.

And yes, to longform is totally a verb. Deal with it.dashfoot

Hey there, this is @FknMayhem's alt account.

Here I mostly tumbl (resteem with added commentary and attitude or snark, a form of advanced curation Steem doesn't offer), zapp, post to forums, and submit other miscellaneous mischief. The latter which may or may not include more personal content.

There may be days it can be noisy around here, follow at your own risk. Alternatively, follow my attempts at more in-depth own content on my main account, @FknMayhem.

I am also on zeh Titter. Feel free to pitch me your worthy suggestions there. But make them worth my time. Once Steemit has an option to integrate `beneficiaries` when posting, 50% of each curated post’s rewards will go to the original content creator.

Glad I'm not contributing to the noise. :)

Let’s see about that when you finally start that alt account. ;)
