Flag Flogging on Steemit - What Does It Mean?

It seems to be quite a past-time for quite a number of Steemians. Some of them also seem to be liking the pain, having expressed their deep thoughts on the rather intimate activity, sometimes even wanting more for themselves despite the discomfort. For what it seemed to be a simple device for signalling disagreement and limiting payouts, it sure looks evident now that it might be tapping into our unexplored subconscious. Perhaps that's why 50 Shades of Grey is so popular.

_{My Opinion: Personally I'm okay with it. The flag button is there, and it's part of the design. Honestly, IDGAFOS. Anyway, maybe something could be done about it. Downvote maybe, or just let people get used to it. Objection is part of life. So far I think most whale flags are sufficiently justified.. the only problem comes when it is used randomly.}
