This sculpture was made the past student of department of fine art in the prestigious university of Benin Nigeria,
It is called mother Africa, and situated at the entrance of the basement hull, that serves as a reading room extension for the student of University of Benin, Nigeria,
This art is a mother plaiting the hair of her daughter,
The daughter is lost in that feeling that her eyes are closed and her left breast out. that is the ecstasy of mother relationship to her child,
When you think of choice of location, one thing comes to mind, "it is there to remind you of home"
Since the advance of education to West Africa, most African child are so much engulfed with western form of education that we just want to copy everything they say is moral and legal.
That could be the motive of this art, to remind every student that comes to basement hull uniben, that our heritage is neither inferior nor superior to any body,
Culture is universal, culture is relative,
If you are familiar to Africa, you will understand the posture for this art, because that is when a mother inculcate moral to her girl child and she too can ask questions while the plaiting goes on To while away time.
