What's the point of the question? If the earth is a ball, what is deep inside it? If you can't answer, does that mean it isn't a ball?

Why does knowing what is inside it mean it isn't a ball? Before we knew our bodies were made up of cells, does that mean we weren't made up of cells? I don't see how not knowing one thing means the whole planet is flat.
