Question : At what height do we see curvature

in flatearth •  7 years ago  (edited)

And ships DO go over the curve and cannot be brought back with a telescope.. but you have to actually let them go OVER the curve and not do like flat earthers do and bring them back as soon as they go out of SIGHT but are not over the horizon.

Get a BIG ship and you can watch it go over the horizon and cannot bring it back with a telescope. I could give you 100 videos of people doing this with a high powered telescope or the p900.

Here's another with a p900 on full zoom.

and lastly, buildings would tilt at 1 degree every 70 miles. It helps to understand the model before saying it doesn''t work. You seem to think the earth is about 1/3rd the size that it is if you think there should be 1 degree of tilt for every 20 miles and obvious curvature at 35,000 feet. Try making your expectations 3 times what you are doing, and you will probably get it right. The earth is unfathomably large. Without measuring these things, you can't just pull numbers out your butt and say you 'should' see something that has unrealistic expectations.

It' funny, but you were having a discussion with @kerriknox and she's basically gone over every one of your questions on different posts on her blog. She has a post on when you should see the curve, ships over the horizon, and buildings leaning, and clears up all those misconceptions.

challenge accepted , how far away is the boat, to the observer?

Challenge? YOU said that ships don't go over the horizon. I proved they do. Challenge won already! Or rather, your claim was rebutted, since the 'challenge' has been won already for the past 2000 years that we've known it's a globe and the thousands of observations supporting that. Facts are not a 'challenge'. There are claims and facts. Flat earthers have claims, and globers have facts that rebut those claims.

What would it matter how far away they are? It's OVER the horizon and can't be brought back with a telescope. You DID say that ships don't go over the horizon, right? Oh, but they do. Even with a magical p900. So, challenge already won, or rather, your claim was rebutted, since there is no 'challenge' at all and it's absolutely 100% provable that ships do go over the horizon. Plus, how would one provide the exact distance to a random boat? Moving the goalposts is not a honest debate technique. Here's a children's video on this particular logical fallacy.

However, I CAN provide this with measurements that I do know though. This plane does does go down below the horizon.. like you say nothing can do. And since it's coming towards us, not away, you can't claim that it's disappearing due to perspective, or that you can bring it back with a telescope since it's not too far away to be seen before it disappears.

Here are the specs from observer to the airport. The planes are landing at the airport.

i asked a simple question you never answered , dont buck dance it , how far away was the boat to the observer then?

LOL. What question. You asked the distance to the ship. I answered and gave an example of a distance I actually do know. Perhaps you can't read and that is the problem with they you think the earth is flat. What about that did not answer your question? Because it sounds like YOU are the one ducking reality.

The planes are landing behind the horizon.. but, but, but, things don't GO behind the horizon according to you. Yep, they do. INCLUDING the ships that you say don't go behind the horizon. Sorry. But they do.

you dont know , thats fine

LOL. Nice that you ignore that I DID answer that I didn't know and provided you an example where I do know, and that is absolutely does show curvature... but you choose to ignore it because it doesn't fit your flat earth fantasy world... but you lookin' fer da TRUF!!!

Your identity must be so wrapped up in feeling like you are one of the smartest people ever to live that you are not capable of ever admitting to the curvature when it's right in front of your face.

Well, ships DO go over the curvature of the earth, and planes disappear behind it... I'm sorry that it too difficult for you to admit, but it will still be round regardless of whether you want it to be or not. It's not an opinion, and there is no belief required.

you cant answer my question kid , move along im done here

When you have to lie to support your belief system, well, that's most likely because you have no actual facts.
