Hi guys- well, Christmas only comes once a year, and it's a good thing @silvertop has not made much progress....
Here is my latest update!
I wanted this side of the room to be just a simpler layout as this is where I bring in my firewood. Then, I started looking at the 4x4 Mexican tiles.... and I really like this look.
I didn't want it to be a copycat of the entry tile, so what if I put a 4x4 Mexican tile every three field tiles, just to add but not to overdue the look?
I like this!!! So it begins!!!
One of the important things to pay attention to is make sure the tiles are level. I apply the thin-set mortar with a 1/4 inch notched trowel, and I found a really clever tool-a suction cup specifically made to apply tile. This allows me to place the tile exactly where I want it and even move it around without getting thin-set on my gloves.
Then with a carpeted piece of plywood I gently tap around the surrounding tiles to level.
@silvertop was really hoping to get this finished before Christmas but....... I will probably need to pause for Santa and pick up afterwards.
I hope this inspires you to do some home remodeling! It's very satisfying to see the final results of your hard work!
I will keep you posted as this continues after Christmas.
