The red rose is a flower that is considered to represent a sense of love, romance, beauty, and respect.

Since ancient times, many people expressed their feelings by giving red roses. This flower is also popular on Valetine Day and Mother's Day.

You know, in ancient Greece and Rome, red roses were expensive and luxurious objects. They were only available to rich people and nobles. Red rose is also an inspiration for painters and writers.

While in religious rituals, red roses are used in ceremonies and also rituals of medicine.

Interesting thing happened in the 15th century, there is a historical record of what is called the "War of the Roses" aka War of Roses.

The Rose War is not as beautiful as its name. It was a civil war in England. The red rose symbolizes the Lancaster family while the white rose is the symbol of the York family. When Henry VII of the Lancaster family married Elizabeth from York, he combined this second rose symbol into a Tudor rose.

There is also ancient Greek mythology, which tells the story of Venus, the son of Cupid (the god of desire, erotic love, charm and affection) who is stung by bees for accidentally shooting arrows at the rose garden.

That arrow shot is believed to cause thorns to grow on roses. When Venus walked into the rose garden, her feet were pierced by rose thorns, so that the blood droplets made red roses.
