While tending to my yard I came across a patch of spring violets. Not hard to do as they spread like crazy and have taken over most of my backyard. The blue variety are the ones that I planted when I moved into my house many years ago. The white speckled ones seem to be a mutation. Normally I would pull them up but this new color is very pretty.

The white flowers are variegated, which is a mutation. Variegation can have a variety of causes, not all pf them genetic. I have some variegation going on in my garden which I suspect is caused by an infecting organism
