First reporting week of the 2022-2023 flu season is complete and we are already above the national baseline. This season looks like it is going to start early. Australia's season started early as well and it was one of the more severe seasons in recent memory.
The predominant circulating strain thus far is H3N2. It tends to be more severe than other strains. So far the circulating H3N2 viruses are matching the flu vaccine strain.
Make sure you get the flu vaccine. It takes ~2 weeks to protect. You can get it at the same time as the coronavirus vaccine. It is safe to do so.
