Michael Flynn pleads guilty: A house of cards on the verge of collapse?

Pleading guilty to lying to the FBI, Flynn will be cooperating with investigators in the special counsel's probe.

Flynn admitted to lying to the FBI when he denied discussing sanctions with Russian ambassador, Sergey Kislyak. Flynn had discussed these matters with senior officials in the White House, including Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in law, possibly implicating those among Trump's inner circle.

The fact that Flynn has decided to plead guilty does not bode well for the White House. He is cooperating with the investigation, likely to lessen the ramifications for himself in exchange for testimonies that will implicate others amongst Trump's closest supporters.

It is likely that Trump was hoping to remove Russian sanctions on oil in exchange for financial benefit - possibly alleviation of debts to Russian oligarchs. Trump and his colleagues have numerous financial connections to these Russian figures who could stand to benefit greatly from easing of sanctions against Russian oil trade. Forgiving a debt from Trump would be relatively minor in comparison to the billions, possibly trillions of potential dollars to be made in oil revenues.

This house of cards is looking pretty shaky. Let's see what happens next!
