I'm too new for this to be much of an issue. :) I suspect people leave because they're not making any money, and aside from the money making potential, steemit doesn't compare well with stuff like Reddit+RES, feature-wise. Hopefully eventually the feature set will expand. Just my $.02.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
