You know @steevc I was thinking that in the near future, we could do something like a "Guitar Idol" of some sort.

I'm still working out the idea in my head, but maybe we do a contest kind of like this.

  • You have 3 backing tracks to choose from
  • You record your guitar driven song using these tracks and have a week to submit them/ publish them
  • Then the person hosting the contest (hint, hint) will make a new post commenting on said post under each submission for the community to upvote its favorite. (no double voting)
  • The winner of that, gets a guitar pedal, or something of the sort...

I guess my point is, it would be cool to attract more guitarist to Steem.

I like the idea. I feel like I've only seen a snippet of the talent in the community. Would love to see more...

Also, maybe we can all chime in one what styles we play in case someone wants to learn, lets say a blues, or finger picking style, or shredding. This way we can all use each other as reference and help newbie players as well.

Sounds like fun. I know we have some great guitarists here and I'd love to see more. I was part of a community on a guitar forum that has broken up now. Some are on Facebook, but I'd prefer to interact with them on Steemit. BTW I bought my pedal toppers with funds I earned here :)

I say you take the lead on this one, you know your way around Steem, and guitar is your passion... maybe we can convince @pechichemena to make the backing tracks for the contest. And I offer to sponsor the contest as well... I'll donate a guitar pedal towards it...

I'd love to, but I just don't have the time to organise something. I'll help out where I can.

well its out there for the world to see... let's see who steps up to the plate!!! hahahaha

Count me in! I'll be back at my studio in two weeks , I'll gladly help into making this happen , of course I can do the backing tracks , we would need some organizing in order to have different styles to solo on , so it's fair for everyone. Let me call for some help here : @dreamrafa , @outoftune, @ale.tripoli. Suggestions?

I really loved that idea. I would definitely participate on a contest like that. It's like a Steemit guitar jamming

@meno That is a great idea. I have been trying to get more of my musician friends here as well.

Those pedal toppers are a great idea! Never knew such a think existed.

Can't wait for the guitar show. One of my favourite weekends of the year...not too long to go now!

Well I had seen Barefoot buttons before. They may have been at the show, but they cost several pounds each. These were £6.50 for 10. They will do for at home.

Thanks for mentioning me @steevc , I really appreciate it , I think this type of initiatives are great for the community ,I'll be following some of the people you mentioned here too :) . Always cool to get to know more musicians in this platform! Cheers!

No problem. You are doing some great stuff here. It's my way of showing support.

If you have any interest in guitar effects pedals, feel free to check out my blog ;)
I'm currently trying to get a flow of content going based on the DIY aspects of the scene.
There are tons of guys(and gals) out there building/soldering their own pedals!

I'd love to get into making some stuff if I could find the time

Takes just a few hours to build a simple distortion or fuzz ;)

Thanks for sharing. Open mic has been a great way for me to check out other's work. Posts like these gives me the opportunity to follow more quality people in the music community.

DS-1 used to be my favorite. :)

Appreciate this, and thanks for posting this. Will be following your suggested peeps. I think I had that distortion pedal, is that from the 80s?

Those pedals have been around a long time. I was given this one by a friend.

@Stevec we need to get you an Ibanez Tube Screamer!!!

I think there's one emulated in the Zoom. Maybe I'll find one at the guitar show.

Thanks! Always great to get some new quality musicians to follow. I've noticed that as Steemit gets bigger and bigger, posts like this are really necessary.

I have had a couple of different toppers, cant seem to get them to fit correctly. I may try the barefoot buttons soon.

It seems that switches vary quite a bit in size. I need a 3d printer so I can make my own

It's really good to see some good supporting to the Guitar Community on Steemit. Great job and post!

really impressive

What is?

the way of life of successful people in your post

Okay. I suggest you say a little more in your comments so they don't look like spam

Thank you

Waww good
I really like your post

Really? What did you like about it?

about your story sir @steevc
what you tell about musicians, I actually like to play music

That's good. If you make your comments relevant to the post then you will do better here. Just saying 'I like you post' can look like spam.
