Homemade cranberry sauce

 homemade cranberry sauce is a cinch to make. This version is flavored with orange juice and orange zest, which elevates it into an elegant holiday dish. Serve with simple Roast Turkey and Gravy.

If you’re using frozen cranberries, let them thaw. Once they've thawed—or if you’re using fresh cranberries—rinse them. Pick off any stems and discard blemished berries.


Add the cranberries, orange zest and salt and boil gently until most of the cranberries burst open, creating a thick sauce.



Add the cranberries to the boiling mixture. Of desired, stir in 2 teaspoons grated orange peel.


  

 Boil for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries begin to pop. Cover and refrigerate about 3 hours or until chilled.
