POTATO PANCAKES WITH MEAT ( DRANIKI)

How to make potato pancakes with meat at home. This recipe makes 8 potato pancakes with meat. Its not an every day treat, but on occasional days its nice to have some warm potato pancakes filled with meat and topped with sour cream.

I want to share this recipe with you and I hope you try it and love it as much as I love it. My grandmother would make these on Sunday mornings, and I can still picture her standing next to the stove, making batch after batch as we all sat around the kitchen table, smacking our lips as we forked down the golden and crispy potato pancakes.

Ingredients

Potato Pancakes

3-4 large potatoes

1 egg

4 Tablespoons flour

2 Tablespoons sour cream

1 small onion or half of a large onion

3/4 tsp salt

1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Meat Filling

250 gr of beef mince ( you could use any other meat you like)

1 very small onion

1/4 tsp salt

1/8 tsp ground black pepper

2 Tablespoons water

Directions

Step 1 : Peel and grate your potatoes on the finest grater. Pour the liquid away and place the dry mixture into the new bowl.

Step 2 : Grate your onion on the finest grater as well. Warning * you might end up crying like me while grating the onion, just hold on there!!

Step 3: Mix your onion, with salt, pepper, egg, sour cream , flour and potato and set aside

Step 4: To make your meat filling, mix your meat, finely grated onion new one, with salt, pepper and water.

Step 4 : Prepare a hot frying pan with some butter and oil. Place 1-1.2 tbsp of potato mixture into the pan and spread over. Leave it to fry on low medium heat for 5 min, once you see the colour is changing slightly, we add the meat filling on top. Spread the filling and let it cook for another 3-5 min until it becomes crispy golden brown.

Step 5 : Add more potato mixture on top, seal it from both sides and flip over to fry on the other side for another 5-10 min.

Step 6: Place the pancakes on paper towel to get rid of excess fat and serve with sour cream. Of course, you can skip the meat and enjoy the potato pancakes by themselves,

Step 7 : Enjoy, I can guarantee you will be addicted to these!

I've been thinking of finding a good potato pancake recipe and this one is just right! Does look delicious. But, if i may ask, what kind of potatoes exactly? Not sure of the one to use.

Wow it must be yummy.
This is something i should try out over weekend, because all the ingredients are readily available to me,except black pepper (which i will taste for the first time!)
The whole procedure is clearly written out.
This is my turn to try out something new.
Thank you for this recipe.

Thanks. I always wondered how to get a filling inside of a potato pancake.

My husband wants me to make potato pancakes, but I have never heard of them with meat. Interesting. We may try this recipe.

I like similar potato cakes here but never had meat in them and the mean sounds like a great idea.
