Making Cucumber Salad 😍

in food •  last month

Hello!

Like most people nowadays, I frequent TikTok / Instagram Reels- and one thing that's been trending/viral is cucumber salad. So obviously I'd say I was influenced to make it!

I'm so glad I made this because I found it really delicious, I'm someone that likes cold/crunchy textures a lot so I loved this!

In the recipes/videos I've seen people make about these online, they use an entire cucumber. I didn't do that because that's expensive and I didn't want to, lol. I used around a quarter of a cucumber instead! I sliced it up, and chopped it into little pieces. I also cut little bits of spring onions into it as I saw others do that, but I don't think I'll do that again as I really didn't like them. 😔

Next, I took 5 crabsticks (some people call them seafood sticks) and chopped them up into little bits too. I LOVE crabsticks, I could easily eat an entire pack in one go but luckily I have some self restraint and I haven't done that.... yet. 😏

I added 2 spoonful's (maybe too much?) of cottage cheese, which was an incredible addition, because I love cottage cheese! Just like the crabsticks, I could easily eat a pot in one sitting but again, I have self restraint (somehow). I saw other people use creamed cheese or Greek yoghurt or things like that- I didn't really fancy that so I just went with what I wanted! It's nice that this recipe is so adaptable!

I got all of the ingredients I used from Co-op.

Price list:

Seafood sticks - £1.40 which is roughly 8 STEEM.

Spring onions - £0.70 which is roughly 4 STEEM.

Cottage cheese - £2.10 which is about 13 STEEM.

(Thai Dragon) Siracha chili mayo sauce - £2.60 which is around 16 STEEM.

Cucumber- £0.90 which is about 5 STEEM.

To accompany my dinner, I also had a can of Cider! This cost £5.15 for a 4 pack! Which is roughly 31 STEEM.

All together this meal cost me: £12.85, which is around 77 STEEM- not too bad!

All in all, I love this! I've made this a couple times since I first made it, sometimes adding carrots and taking out the spring onion, or adding gherkins/pickles which I've really, really enjoyed too.
