Lontong Balap Dish Typical Surabaya Indonesia

Surabaya is one of the cities in the province of East Java that is famous for its diversity of traditional food. This time I will share withyou about traditional food called Lontong Balap. Lontong Balap is a traditional food that is characteristic of the city of Surabaya. This dish consists of lontong (lontong is food consisting of rice steamed in a banana leaf), sprouts, lentho, fried tofu, soy sauce, chilli sauce and fried onions. How to serve Lontong Balap, consisting of slices lontong, slices of tofu and knead some lentho, then on top is added half-cooked sprouts as the largest portion in this dish, chilli sauce and soy sauce according to your taste. This dish is served with some sate kerang (shellfish skewers), usually one package with two shellfish skewers. But if we want more shellfish skewers, we can order ourselves as an addition as much as we want it. Lentho is a fried food made from grated cassava and grated coconut mixed with soybeans and seasonings and then fried. Some of these ingredients are then flush with sauce, soy sauce, petis (condiment of fermented shrimp), and sprinkled with fried onions. Eating lontong balap is more delicious if coupled with chilli sauce, according to your tastes and eaten together with sate kerang (shellfish skewers). For those of you who are allergic to shellfish, you should order coconut ice as a drink. Young coconut ice is believed to neutralize your allergy to shellfish. The taste that is created from the combine of lontong balap stuffing between savory, salty and spicy, is a typical cuisine of East Java people.
