Ichigo Daifuku - A delicious Japanese treat of Mochi with red bean paste and a strawberry.

in food •  8 years ago

Mochi ( 餅, もち ?) is type of Japanese rice sweet which is made from Mochigome, a short-grain glutinous rice native to Japan. To make the Mochi, the rice is pounded into paste and subsequently moulded into the desired shape which is usually a small half-globe or dome.

The outside of the ball is white, and has a sticky, floury taste which is quite pleasant. Inside the ingredients can vary. The one I have here contains a ripe and succulent , whole strawberry. Around the strawberry and between it and the mochi is a smooth red bean paste.

The result is delicious, and as you can see here I have cut one in half, but you can simply bite into them. Its a chewy, sweet dessert, and usually 2 or 3 are enough...

These ones were purchased from a small, specialty Mochi shop in Bangkok, and after eating them I will be going back to sample some of the other flavours. Delicious !!!

looks delicious :)

thanks. They are a nice treat. I'm discovering lots of interesting new food from Japan and most of it is amazing.

These look really delicious but I wish it were chocolate not red bean!😋

Haha, I actually thought it was chocolate too at first

Wish I knew why this warranted a bot downvote from @smooth. Seems I get one every post. It's like the bots have taken over steemit curation, but instead of rewarding they're just negating...I'm not sure how this is a positive...It's like painting a room beige.

Looks yummy! I'm a big fan of strawberry! Thanks for sharing! :)

yes, me too
