I have known about Guayusa for a couple of years and you brew it like a tea.

Guayusa is a species of tree of the holly genus, native to the Amazon Rainforest. One of three known caffeinated holly trees, the leaves of the guayusa tree are dried and brewed like a tea for their stimulative effects. (Source: Wikipedia.org)

You can find this plant in Ecuador, Peru, and Columbia. It is related to the Yerba Mate plant.

It works pretty well when I have brewed up the loose leaf version. It is a different kind of energy than what you feel when you drink Green Tea, Coffee, or Energy drinks.

Have you ever tried Guayusa?

Is this like a healthy energy alternative?

Yeah pretty much.... you might have tried Yerba Mate or tea blends. It would be like that. There is actually 150 mg of caffeine in it compared to 80mg with RedBull. But it is sort of a different feeling. I actually feel somewhat invincible especially if I brew the loose leaf type!

the drinks are fresh, i want to try.

They are pretty good for sure.... getting it in loose leaf is cheaper. These were 4 for $5 which is kind of pricey.

I love guayusa! I was first introduced to it in a South American ceremony. Lovley tea :)

That is awesome you got the true experience with it! I feel like there is a big opportunity with it here in the United States. The main company importing it is RUNA so they have cornered that market in a lot of ways.

I buy it from a friend who brings it back from Peru. It should be imported fairly, the locals surivive on ver little and they get paided very little for the tea. I didn't know you could get in in the USA. I will have to check it out.

Would I find this in Africa

I'm not sure. I'm sure someone has imported it. RUNA has mainly brought it to the United States that I'm aware of
