What to cook for the US Independence Day (July 4)

What do Americans eat on the Independence Day, which American food prefer? As traditionally this day everyone spend on air, arranging a picnic (31 million Americans) or barbecue (66 million), then the dishes are offered appropriate.

Basically simple dishes are served, for example, the famous hot dogs (for good reason this month is the month of sausages); Hamburgers; Potato, pasta and green salads; Beans baked in the oven; boiled corn; potato chips. You can also serve grilled chicken, beef or ribs. From drinks - lemonade, from fruit - a water-melon, and necessarily the cake decorated with a strawberry (less often a raspberry) and a bilberry in the form of the American flag.

If possible, the red-white-blue scale in food (for example, the aforementioned cake and watermelon) is observed, as well as in the table setting: disposable plates, napkins and the like are abundantly decorated with flag symbols, forks, spoons and knives should also be blue or red.

By the way, this symbolism is in direct contradiction with the Flag Code, which states that "the flag can not be used for advertising, it is impossible to put a flag drawing on napkins or boxes and in general for anything that is intended for temporary use and subsequent ejection." Fortunately, the code is not a law, so carefree Americans continue to use banned, but such traditional paper plates and glasses.

In the evening, of course, there will be fireworks - both official in city parks and unofficial ones - on homesteads in rural areas (in cities it is forbidden to conduct amateur fireworks).

In the morning America, as usual, will go to work - and will look forward to the next holiday .
