Eating healthy food is essential for your health and sustainable for biodiversity. And to help you stay on track, there is a simple rule: the 3V. You don't know it? Well, that's just the point of our article.

What is the 3V rule?
What if we just followed three simple golden rules to adopt a healthy and environmentally friendly diet? This is what Anthony Fardet, a physician, proposes. This researcher in preventive nutrition and author of the book Halte aux Produits ultra-transformés (Stop ultra-processed products) has established the 3V rule: True, Vegetable and Vary.

V for True
To eat well, it is essential to give up ultra-processed foods. In addition to being expensive, these products have little nutritional value. But that's not all, the food additives and endocrine disruptors present in these foods also represent a danger to our health. They increase, among other things, the risk of obesity, diabetes, chronic diseases, and cancers.

So, get rid of prepared meals that are too salty, industrial soups, sauces, snack cakes, sodas, cereals, candies... For your well-being, choose "real" products that are rich in benefits and especially much better in the mouth.

V for Vegetable
It is now proven that there is a link between red meat consumption and cancer. As a result, for your health and especially for the well-being of our animal friends, it is better to limit animal products.

By eating less, or even no more meat, fish, milk, eggs..., you will take care of yourself, biodiversity, and the planet (the production of these foods emits twice as much greenhouse gas emissions as the production of vegetable products).

V for Vary
Eating well also means adopting a varied diet. By eating new fruits and vegetables (even old and forgotten vegetables that are excellent for your health), by changing the way you cook (boiling, frying, pan-frying, drying...), by varying the flavors, or by revisiting your favorite dishes, you will take more pleasure in eating and you will fill up on energy all year long.

And of course, don't forget to eat organic, seasonal, and local fruits and vegetables. By the way, if you're interested, here's our 2021 calendar to download for free and display in your kitchen.

So, by following the 3V rule, you will benefit from a healthy diet for your health and sustainability for biodiversity.
