Christmas Dinner Chez Dee Marshall

BBC Good Food

I celebrate the winter holiday that goes from the weekend before 25th December until January 2nd. However, many people in my family celebrate Christmas. They come to me for a slap up meal as I have my own house with plenty of room for a party.

I'm not a skilled chef so my challenge is to cook a meal that everyone enjoys while making it easy for myself.

I have to cater for veggies and meat eaters.

I have already shopped for the food, decided my menu and planned my preparation on Christmas Eve.

This is my menu:

  • Starter:

Smoked Salmon Nibbles; Dips and Hummus with breadsticks and pretzels plus carrot, peppers and cucumber crudites

  • Main Course:

Turkey breast roast; Turkey and gammon roast; Meat sausages; Vegetarian sausages (A poor alternative but it's what they wanted.)

Turkey gravy, Cranberry sauce, Mint sauce

Roast potatoes and Roast parsnips

Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots

Breadcrumb stuffing; Yorkshire puddings

  • Dessert:

Trifle

Lemon Tart

Apple Crumble

Ice Cream, Cream

  • Cheese and Biscuits:

Selection of cheese bars (Cheddar, Gloucester, Red Leicester) plus Port Salut, Edam and Cheshire

  • Coffee(with added alcohol if people want), mints

Today is 'defrost day' as you see above.

Wish me luck!!
